Forgiveness Is Sin
Sat, 2009-07-04 19:04 | Young Kim
The two orbs that I call your eyes are looking at me.
The two orbs that are your eyes are glassy and slick.
Lithely my tongue moves over and under my lips,
I tell you stories, I tell you fables, but not the truth.
Inside there is a little pain, whose eyes are black as coal.
And everywhere that I would go, this pain, as well, would go.
Under a gag order, I heave and heave, but can’t excrete,
This image of you burning behind the walls of my eyes.
Silence is golden, I heard it said once, or twice.
But your voice was the sound of heavenly harp strings,
That made me lose the silence, and drew me to you.
Nothing makes sense once time has passed by.
The same memories turn gray and get dog ears.
And I sit here, trying to look into your two orbs.
I can ask for forgiveness, and with relative numbness,
I can ask for patience, but this was not in my mind,
When I held you so close and your ears were by my side.
Now, I stare out at the world through two empty holes,
Without orbs, without eyes, I try to see the things around me.
I try to fill these empty holes with visions of sweetness,
And only your two orbs keep filling in that darkness.
The two orbs that I call your eyes are absent from me.
The two orbs that are your eyes no longer see me.
Lithely, my eyelids flutter above my tearing eyes.
And I remember the time I forgot to tell the truth.
